In the latest edition of Social Business Trust’s Leading the Way series, Louisa Mitchell, CEO of AllChild, reflects on her journey from early community leadership to heading a pioneering organisation dedicated to supporting children and families through long-term, local partnerships.
Louisa shared how her path to leadership began not with a single moment, but through deep listening and collaboration in West London’s White City. From a pilot project in 2015, she helped grow what is now AllChild, a £7 million organisation currently working across two regions to give children the support they need to thrive.
Among her proudest moments; appointing a one of the first Link Workers from the 2015 pilot to AllChild’s Board of Trustees, proof of the organisation’s commitment to community leadership and lasting change.
Louisa also highlighted the importance of partnerships grounded in shared values, praising the support of Social Business Trust and their partners like Permira and EY in helping to shape AllChild’s strategy, impact, and internal culture.
Her source of inspiration? Staying close to the frontline. Louisa tries to visit at least one school to speak with young people and their Link Workers every week. “Being active in our communities and close to my team is important to me as it helps me ensure we’re delivering the best possible impact and gives me the best chance of leading with real understanding and empathy,” she shared.
With a vision rooted in place, people, and potential, Louisa and AllChild continue to lead the way in creating better futures for every child.
